Abstract

Both traditional cigarettes and electronic cigarettes (vapes) have detrimental effects on the health of users and those around them, impacting multiple bodily systems, including the respiratory, cardiovascular, nervous, digestive, reproductive, and immune systems. This community service program aims to enhance the Indonesian language proficiency of BIPA (Indonesian for Foreign Speakers) learners by training them to write essays in Indonesian. Additionally, focusing the essay theme on The Dangers of Electronic Cigarettes helps raise awareness and knowledge about the health risks associated with vaping. The program was conducted using an interactive mentorship approach, targeting BIPA learners. The results revealed significant health hazards of vaping, as identified by participants: 52.63% highlighted its negative impact on erectile function, 57.89% on cellular damage, and 100% acknowledged its harm to the lungs and heart. Furthermore, 63.16% noted its interference with brain development, 68.42% linked it to depression, and 89.47% emphasized the risks of explosions and fires caused by vapes. This initiative successfully combined language education with public health awareness, demonstrating the severe consequences of vaping while improving participants' writing skills.
