Plagiarism Policy
Plagiarism Policy
Insan Cendekia: Jurnal Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan is strictly committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publication practices. To ensure the originality and quality of our publications, the journal enforces a rigorous plagiarism screening process. All manuscripts submitted must be original works that have not been previously published and are not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere.
1. Similarity Threshold
Every submitted manuscript undergoes a systematic similarity check using professional plagiarism detection software (Turnitin). The editorial board applies the following strict rules:
-
The overall similarity index must not exceed 20%.
-
This similarity limit excludes the bibliography (references) and commonly used academic phrases/formulas.
-
Manuscripts that exceed this threshold will be returned to the authors for revision or may be rejected immediately at the discretion of the Editorial Board.
2. Forms of Prohibited Plagiarism
Insan Cendekia strictly prohibits all forms of academic misconduct, including but not limited to:
-
Direct Plagiarism: Copying sentences, paragraphs, or passages exactly as they appear in another source without using quotation marks and providing proper acknowledgment.
-
Self-Plagiarism (Redundancy): Reusing substantial parts of one’s own previously published work (text, data, or unique ideas) without clearly citing the earlier publication.
-
Mosaic/Patchwork Plagiarism: Borrowing phrases, ideas, or writing patterns from various sources and weaving them into a new text without adequate attribution.
-
Inadequate Citation: Failing to provide accurate references, citing sources incorrectly, or presenting another author’s research data as one's own.
3. Author Responsibilities
Authors are solely responsible for ensuring that all sources of information, data, and quotations are properly cited and referenced according to the journal’s citation style (APA Style). All concepts, ideas, and findings derived from other researchers must be clearly credited.
4. Detection and Consequences
-
During Review: If plagiarism or a high similarity index is detected during the initial screening or peer review process, the manuscript will be immediately rejected or returned for major revision.
-
After Publication: If plagiarism is discovered and proven after an article has been published, the journal reserves the right to retract the article, publish a formal retraction notice online, and, if necessary, notify the author’s affiliated institution or professional body.
